Sonic Society #749- Mocking Mysteries

This week David Ault hosts alone as Jack is off taking some time in his cabin. But the horror features continue this week with the first two episodes of Mocking Manor. Mockery Manor is a theme park where people disappear, and it’s up to a pair of chaotic teenage twins to catch a killer! If you have enjoyed Stranger Things, Friday the 13th, and Black Mirror than this double-bill is for you! After all, it’s AUDIO DRAMA TIME!

Sonic Society #748- Malevolent Missives

Jack and David bring episode one from Malevolent! Arkham Private Investigator Arthur Lester wakes up with no memory of who he is or what has happened, only a nameless, eerie voice guiding him through the darkness. Blind, terrified, and confused, his journey will lead him towards a series of mysteries in the hopes of understanding the truth of what has transpired. As cosmic horrors seep into the world around, Arthur must ask himself whether this entity truly seeks to help him, or are its intentions more… and now Part 1 “The Dark World”!

Sonic Society #747- Red Riots

Re-Imagined Radio has celebrated the anniversary of “The War of the Worlds” several times by re-telling the story. This year, on Devil’s Night and the occasion of its 84th anniversary, Jack and David play their explorations into the radio storytelling that may have influenced Orson Welles’s radio adaptation of the 1898 novel by H. G. Welles. In addition to samples from these earlier radio stories, interviews with Welles provide additional insight for this episode, “The War of the Worlds: Possible Influences.”

Sonic Society #746- Wrong Sheridan

Jack and David continue the horror this month with The Sheridan Tapes #1. In 2018, famed horror writer Anna Sheridan disappeared, leaving behind only a box of mysterious cassette tapes and for their second feature one of the anthology episodes from Wrong Station with “A Walk in the Park”. She was walking home on one of the snowiest nights of the year, she tells me. She kind of loses track of time, and eventually comes to this park. A place she’d never heard of, and one she was never able to find again. That big park, with that little house right in the middle of it.

Sonic Society #745- Lands of the Shadow

Jack and David begin this haunted episode with a remake of the classic “The Shadow” from No Soap Radio with “The Silent Avenger” to be followed by a second feature from Badlands Cola… A haunting manifesto tape. A town built on dinosaur bones. Radio stations have gone awry. Has Sunny’s latest private investigation case brought them to the sleepiest place in Canada, or have they stumbled upon something terrifying in the Badlands?

Sonic Society #742- Things fall Apart

Jack and David return with today’s feature where we have “Entropy: An Original Sci-Fi Audio Drama“. In the year 2309, Humanity is at an all out civil war between Earth and her colonies, as the Kepler Government seeks to rule the entire Colonial Sector with an iron grip. Using Authoritarian tactics, Kepler relentlessly slaughters it’s own people in an attempt to make the Central Colonial Council (CCC)budge. With the discovery of a potential new planet suitable for colonization, the CCC and the Earth Military create a mission: To bring a team of extraordinary people to establish a base on the planet, and become beacons of hope for the dying denizens of Kepler. The first four episodes begin now…

Sonic Society #741- Wild Winds

Jack and David return and this week ur feature, ‘The Chronicles of Wild Hollow’, begins with The Boursin trilogy. In Episode One, Fandango investigates a high-rolling new nightclub in Fortuna City when Billy Bob’s customers are drawn away from Dust Town’s favourite saloon. Run entirely by frogs, the Lilypad Lounge continues to prosper night after night. Perhaps it’s simply due to their signature martini (it’s to die for…) or resident jazz band The Tadpole Trio. But upon closer inspection, Fandango suspects there’s far more going on than meets the eye. Orginal theme music for the Sonic Society provided by Edward Champion of the Gray Area podcast!

Sonic Society #740- Hot Sounds

Jack and David return with “Hot Copy Radio Theater” who re-create lost episodes of the 1940s radio show, “HOT COPY” — all adapted from the original scripts! This week, an old man is found dead, after a mysterious fire destroys a house in a wealthy neighborhood. Was it a simple accident or a sinister murder?  Newspaper reporter Anne Rogers believes that the police have it all wrong, and decides to prove it. Tune in, for the whole story because it’s AUDIO DRAMA TIME!
