Born to Teachers and Amateur Audio Enthusiasts in the small rural community of Belwood, Jack's first love was stories- writing, reading, telling, and singing. He developed his acting skills through High School, University, and through film and community theatre.
Jack writes the lion's share of Sonic Cinema Production's (previously Electric Vicuna) Audio Drama scripts and has his own writing site at www.jackjward.com. Jack also is the middle of book writing, screenplay production, and is the CEO of the Mutual Audio Network- where he and the best people in the world Listen & Imagine, Together!.
He's thrilled to co-host the Sonic Society with his wonderful, talented, friend David Ault as they enter their second decade in the medium!
Act I of The Narada Radio Company presentation of a remake of the BBC adaptation of THE CAINE MUTINY COURT-MARTIAL, kicking off the 12th (?) Season of Sonic Summerstock Playhouse! Herman Wouk’s moving novel of World War Two was condensed by the author into a two-act play, which the BBC broadcast in the 1950s. This remake for Sonic Summerstock was recorded over Zoom and comprised of actors from California, Texas, Illinois, and the United Kingdom.
It’s our finale for season 17 and Jack and David are feeling a little “Unwell” from the long year! It’s “Unwell-a Midwest Gothic” episodes one and two “Homecoming” and “The Diner”! Lillian Harper moves to the small town of Mt. Absalom, Ohio, to care for her estranged mother Dorothy after an injury. Living in the town’s boarding house which has been run by her family for generations, she discovers conspiracies, ghosts, and a new family in the house’s strange assortment of residents.
This week Jack and David go out in deep space where biologist Violet Liu is floating through the void, trapped in a doomed research ship. She’s the sole survivor of a devastating explosion, and frankly, her odds aren’t looking great, either. But when she is contacted by the charming—and woefully inexperienced—Captain Kay Grisham, Violet learns she might have one last shot at making it out alive. Unfortunately, it’s a real longshot. Our feature show is “The Strange Case of Starship Iris” and episode 1- “Violet Lui” by Jessica Best!
This week Jack and David visit a Dystopian world in which Money, State, and God becomes fused into a single entity called “The Program“. Each episode is a self-contained story focusing on ordinary people inhabiting this extraordinary world. And for them, it is not this future that is terrifying – it is our present. This week we present: ‘You had me at “Hello World”‘.
This week David and Jack get science fictiony with the atmospheric “Beyond the Dark” from author and musician Mark R. Healy. Each episode is a new world to explore. You might find yourself in the heart of a cyberpunk metropolis, a post-apocalyptic wasteland, or an alien world. Each story features its own original music score for a truly immersive experience. This week we have a double-feature with “The Machine” and “The Dark of the City”

Mark Bruzee left us May 20, 2022 with his husband by his side. I can barely comprehend the loss to the Audio Drama Community. Mark was a stalwart, tireless, creative dynamo. He would have laughed if I called him spritely, but looking back that’s the energy he had. We would text back and forth through social media sharing ideas, conspiring for new projects, and delving into each other’s shows as often as we could.
Among the many shows, he did for me included his voice as the narrator for “The Spaceways Starring Biff Straker”. and my adaptation of my first one-man stage play “Breathing Space”. I returned the favour by acting as his narrator “Rupert” for his anthology series for Mark’s passion project- L.E.A.P. Audio. I still remember when Mark asked me my feelings about starting a pro-LGBTQ+ audio drama group. It was still early days in the modern audio drama movement and the thought of being something groundbreaking for that community was compelling to both of us. I think my enthusiasm for the idea was nearly as large as Mark’s. He did that. He cranked up everyone’s enthusiasm for whatever new creative project he was involved in and this extended beyond Audio Drama as Mark was a member of Auburn Players and Harlequin Productions. He was tirelessly supportive, even when he had health issues, Mark would make time to talk to anyone who needed an ear.
As I enter the age of “leavings” I am still unable to listen to audio drama without hearing his velvet voice in The Byron’s Chronicles or on any Darker Projects episodes. You can still hear his voice as one of the promos for our Mutual Audio Network, “This is the Mutual Audio Network. Welcome home…” Mark improved. He made it so. It may be the time of life when we leave friends for a time. I look forward to seeing Mark again beyond the veil… where we can get more excited about more new art we can create together. Rest in peace, my brother. You leave behind a greater legacy than you could know in the people who you touched.
Mark is survived by his husband David Roche. Mark and David shared a life together for 42 years. Their best moment was being married at the New York State Fair. Mark is also survived by his brothers Timothy (Teri) and Neil Bruzee of Seneca Falls, NY; and a large extended family.
