Adam Corolla needs your help.
And so do we at the Sonic Society, and EVERY other podcast. Is that hyperbole? Maybe. But it’s also accurate. According to a recent patent filing, Personal Audio, a company represented by James Logan, claims that THEY created Podcasting, and they did it- according to the filed patent- in 2012. This serious attack on podcasting has Corolla sued in court to the tune of three million dollars. Patent Trolling is not new, but this does represent an existential threat to podcasts if it goes through. While currently, the EFF (Electric Frontier Foundation) has fought off the first salvo, the war isn’t over yet, and Corolla goes to court in September in an appeal. If you love podcasting, contact the EFF and help by donating to save podcasting!
