I couldn’t help but semi-refer to what might have been a Matrix quote in the audio world as KC Wayland and Wayland ProductionsWayland Productions dropped this news today about a new 10-part series Policy Kings.
Laurence Fishburn and Lorenz Tate will be using the audio genius of Wayland to make this new production come to life. A great time to be an audio drama-phile!

More fantastic zombie news! The dead walk again! Or at least, the unliving monsters from KC Wayland’s zombie epic We’re Alive. Wayland’s back, and in this article with Army Times describes what he’s already revealed to Sonic Speak listeners last month that his new parallel tale from the post apocalyptic nightmare- Lockdown will be coming to a podcatcher near you!
Support KC Wayland and the We’re Alive Podcast at its Kickstarter campaign where YOUR donation may be just what is needed to finish this fantastic new voyage into terror.
Julius Purcell write an interesting article about the rise of Audio Drama and it includes such alumni as Fred Greenhalgh and Lawrence Raw and the We’re Alive team as they talk about the state of our beloved medium and its most recent interest. While most of us at the Society are thinking, “Where have you been?” it’s really about the elevation of audio drama in the central consciousness since producers like John Dryden (A Fine Balance) and Sarah Koenig (Serial) have

The Mark Time Award is given each year to honor the Best Science Fiction Audio Production on the Planet. And the Ogle Award for Best Fantasy Audio Production of the Year.
Charles Ogle played the first Frankenstein’s creation in Edison’s silent 1910 film of the famous science fiction horror novel. Fantasy includes magical “high” fantasy, sword and sorcery, horror, modern urban fantasy, and other things that don’t fall under the criteria of Science Fiction. But, we’ll be the judges of that.
A Gold and a Silver Mark Time Award, and a Gold and a Silver Ogle Award, will be awarded at CONvergence,, June 30-July 3 of 2011.
Forget The Walking Dead. Let’s face it, nothing scares like audio drama, and if you’re here, it’s because you realize We’re Alive is your own particular shade of zombie poison.
The good folks at the zombie podcast got some great undead love from Mike Williams at Techland.
Halloween is never over while these masters of the macabre are still weaving their tales. Long live the Zombies!
Shooter from Furious Fanboys wrote a great article on his picks for Top 5 Bits of SciFi Earcandy and guess who got two nods of the five?
Before we let the cat out of the bag lets take a moment and give a nod to the other three mentioned:
1. National Public Radio Star Wars Series– Who can deny one of the greatest audio drama adaptations of the classic George Lucas myth of all time.
2. Wormwood- A Serialized Mystery– This mystery series came out of nowhere just two years ago and took the audio community by storm. Not only did we have a ball playing them on the Sonic Society, but they swept the first season of Uni Awards an instant fan favourite.
3. We’re Alive- If you’re looking for one of the greatest reasons why serialized Audio Drama is one of the most powerful mediums, look no further than the exciting Zombie series “We’re Alive”. Another great find for the Sonic Socierty, this tale about survivors held up in an apartment building in LA is compelling action horror!
And now for the our connection:
Firefly Old Wounds and the Sonic Society were both mentioned as two other gems in the Earcandy list.
But don’t just take our word for it. Go read for yourself!
