Sonic Society #775- Perfect Imperfections

This week Jack and David’s feature rated best podcast from the Audies! It’s “The Imperfection“. Charlie and Amber suffer from a disorder that causes a constant stream of hallucinations. When they discover that their psychiatrist is missing, they rally together with the other patients to search for him. Along the way, they encounter secret societies, half-human half-spider centaurs, and a hidden borough of New York under the East River. But how can you find the truth when you can’t tell what’s real? Sonic Society #772- Genius Playing

This week in honour of Jack’s Masters’ completion we bring a double-feature of ‘Genius‘ is a 21st-century gothic romance / black comedy / thriller in 13 episodes. London, 2005: Sabine Moriarty, a brilliant but reclusive mathematician, gets a call from her estranged brother Jim- also a genius, but of manipulation and blackmail rather than maths. Sabine agrees to meet him, hoping that he’s turned over a new leaf. He hasn’t. He has a new plan, and he wants Sabine’s help: to be the undoing of the only one who might be smarter than the Moriartys- Sherlock Holmes. Now episodes 1 and 2!

This week Jack and David feature Darkest Night, a binaural audio drama that places you, the listener, at the center of a recovered memory that sounds as though it’s happening around you in real time. Each chapter delves into the last memories of the recently deceased, slowly revealing a horrifying master plan. Who is weaving this master conspiracy, and what is their ultimate goal? This week Jack and David bring “S-Town” a podcast hosted by Brian Reed from Serial Productions, a New York Times company. The story follows a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life. This week we feature chapter 1. It’s Audio Drama Time!

It’s well into March and Jack is feeling the sentimentality of Spring. Time to look backwards before we spring forwards to Sonic Summerstock 2023. First a very faithful one from No Soap Radio with “No One Remembers Jack’s Birthday” with thanks to Paul Kovit, and secondly we slip forward to Mindstream Players “The Reasonably Amazing Adventures of Flash Gordon- Episode 5” from the endlessly talented Tom Konkle!

Welcome back as Jack and David present another phenomenal feature from the fertile imaginations of John Barber, Marc Rose and Reimagined Radio with “A Mighty Span”. Re-Imagined Radio explores early examples of dramatized news events and uses this inspiration to create its own dramatization of the opening of the Interstate Bridge linking Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, across the Columbia River, 106 years ago, February 14, 1917. It’s Audio Drama Time!
