New casting for Cold Reboot Audio Drama from the Chicago Artists Resource article:
Burning Brigid Media is now casting for a non-union audio drama mini-series “Cold Reboot,” to be distributed through the Synesthesia Theatre podcast. All cast receive credit, and the opportunity to self-promote on the interview/chat episode of the podcast releasing upon completion of the mini-series.
We have roles available for a wide variety of types and ages. We are requesting self-taped voice auditions.Audition sides, breakdowns, and submission instructions are available on our website. Many roles will be doubled, so performers are encouraged to submit for multiple roles.

It’s that time of year for us at EVP where we start looking to the universities and local theatre guilds to get a solid group of actors for our audio dramas. We have fantastic performers, but sometimes they go inactive, get overused, don’t have time, or move away, and it’s always good to have a fresh supply.
If local acting isn’t in your wheelhouse for the time being, or if you want to try to go the route of fresh new faces (voices), maybe you might want to give Casting Call Club. Membership is free (although they do have enhanced premiums for those who pay) and there’s all kinds of opportunities. Check it out!
This fantastic help document on Gain Staging- 5 Mistakes to Avoid by Joe Albano, does an incredible job of going through some of the most parts of recording. What is gain staging you ask? According to the article, “gain-staging is, in practice—optimizing the level at the input and output of each step in the processing chain (real or virtual)”. So now that you know, make sure get an opportunity to erase mistakes for your next productions!
It’s not often that Brietbart mentions audio drama, but they took the time to talk about a BBC Radio Drama that they feel gave practical tips for illegal migration out of Somalia.
Of course, one might consider that the Old Time Radio series I Was a Communist for the FBI might be giving practical tips on being a Communist during the Cold War Era as well.
Read for yourself in the article: BBC Radio Drama Gave Tips For Illegal Migrants in Somalia and decide for yourself!
When I conceived of The Dead Line Anthologies at EVP Studios, I thought the narrator was a “voyeur in a wired world”. Often times, audio drama producers ask the question “Is Anyone Listening?”. I would argue that over the course of a decade, we’ve made great strides.
Samuel Morrison from The Cornell Sun asks the same question in this article Is Anyone Listening? Morrison writes about radio drama:
Discovering this medium has single handedly salvaged my slumber and opened me up to a new world of immersive storytelling armed with only the power of sound. It is visceral and real, and it attains psychological realism in a way that other mediums sometimes cannot.
Check out the rest of Samuel Morrison’s thoughts on the medium, and his plea to listen to great audio drama!
Tonight on the Sonic Society #465 we get a tightly packed trio of Dayton Trench from Zut Alors Theatre! Mon Dieu! Happy Easter!
