Podcast Directorate

defaultradioEvery once in a while I’m reminded that there are podcast directories out there and that they are introducing people to the wild world of Audio Drama.

While looking for another show’s feed I came across the Podcasting Directory link for our show.

Now this is very interesting, as I don’t remember ever being here. It’s possible I was, and set up the feed link, but more probable, one of our esteemed members did it for us. If so, a belated thank-you is due!

Old Time Radio Gets a Facelift!

Set your podcast feeds for a great new look at old treasures!

Bill Hollweg from Broken Sea Audio has done it again! It wasn’t long ago, when the superstar producer was looking at taking some of his favourite Old Time Radio shows and “cleaning up” the sound quality to return and improve the audio experience for a new generation to enjoy.

He had so much fun, and received such positive responses from those who knew about this little project that he went ahead and began his own podcasting series on it!

The OTR Swag Cast got off to a great start with music by the multi-talented Stevie K. Farnaby presenting Lux Radio Theatre’s Secret of the Incas starring Charlton Heston! A great OTR for those who have a love for pulp movies like Indiana Jones!

As the Madness Turns…

Unspeakable and InhumanAs reported by Derek Fetters in Audiodramatalk.com,  Canada’s premier horror magazine, Rue Morgue, gives mention to audio drama’s only Lovecraftian soap-opera, The Unspeakable and the Inhuman in their most recent issue #86 on page 10.

Featured in a single paragraph in the “Roadkill from the Info Highway” section, Rue Morgue mentions  the U&I Myspace page and as well as providing a positive review of the show!

So exactly what is “The Unspeakable and the Inhuman”

From the Myspace page is written:

“WHAT THIS IS
A serial audio-drama, soap opera inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft
Actually this is just the extended pilot, created initially to get feedback from people at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, OR, which happend Oct 6-8, ’06. We’ve decided to put the episode up here, and a few scenes which didn’t make onto the original disc, to help promote it. When we go into full production you may hear different actors, different effects, and cleaner sound.

HOW THIS HAPPENED
My friend Sam had an idea for a series of short films – a soap opera inspired by H. P. Lovecraft. At that time I had begun to develop a company that would produce serial audio drama for podcast.

We decided to team up, turning the soap into an audio serial. We were working on the series bible when we realized the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival was a month away. With such a perfect test audience soon to be assembled in Portland, OR we scrambled to create what became an extended pilot of our series – which we named The Unspeakable and the Inhuman, and that’s what you’re listening to here.” “

That’s more than good enough for us. Check out the horror at neohoodoostudio.com !

And then there’s Maud…

Broken Sea Audio’s first series of the fantasy light-faired comedy “Maudelayne” wraps up.

After 12 episodes and a whole lot of fun, series one comes to a close with the beginning of a two-parter which can only bring smiles to the faces of their fans knowing that a “Series 2” will not be too far behind?

Maudelayne is a show about several academes who are astonished to find dragons, ancient gods, and other creatures of myth appearing at Maudelayne College in Oxbridge.

With so many dark adventures in audio drama, Maudelayne, written and directed by Alexa Chipman with art and production  by Stevie K. Farnaby is one of those great audio dramas you can just sit back and smile at the magic, the mischief, and the mirth!

Have a listen to Maudelayn Series 1 while its hot off the presses!
