| Tonight’s performance of Sonic Echo in our “October Orson” month is the role Orson made a legend The Shadow with “Circle of Death” and “The League of Terror”! |
Born to Teachers and Amateur Audio Enthusiasts in the small rural community of Belwood, Jack's first love was stories- writing, reading, telling, and singing. He developed his acting skills through High School, University, and through film and community theatre.
Jack writes the lion's share of Sonic Cinema Production's (previously Electric Vicuna) Audio Drama scripts and has his own writing site at www.jackjward.com. Jack also is the middle of book writing, screenplay production, and is the CEO of the Mutual Audio Network- where he and the best people in the world Listen & Imagine, Together!.
He's thrilled to co-host the Sonic Society with his wonderful, talented, friend David Ault as they enter their second decade in the medium!
We’re not strange
rs to teaching and radio drama. Jack has done many seminars with educators on including Audio Drama in the classroom. David has been very involved in theatre with young people for many years, and in this case, Ginny can appreciate the subject best.
In his “Language Mastery” blog, Matthew Pink makes a coherent argument for Radio Drama making waves in language learning. Using active and passive learning audio drama can indeed provide a lot of opportunity in learning new vocabulary and new languages- and as always its a took you take with you where ever you go!
In an effort to save o
ur donors some money, and to put the bucks back into new equipment, The Sonic Society has been experimenting with some free server storage.
That experiment is now over. We’ve found that too many listeners saw our URL disappear for them when traffic started to ramp up from show releases and page visits. So we’re moving back to a modestly priced server as we continue to keep working on updates.
Our webmistress, the wonderfully talented Ginny has been doing a great job with the wordpress site and I think you can appreciate- as we do- the amazing functionality she’s brought to it for Season 10.
Ginny, David, and I, and all our guests are doing our very best to try to keep the interruptions at a minimum as we move the server over, but please be patient as we work to wrinkle out all the bugs and continue to improve your experience.
Thanks so much,
Jack!

Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre on the Air produced a staggering number of adaptations of classic fiction and drama. One of the least quoted but one of Jack’s favourites is the immortal tale of the desert “Beau Geste”, our feature for tonight’s October Orson month! |
When you’re on the hunt for more Audio Drama, don’t forget to look in the sky… or rather in the clouds. While there’s all kinds of concern in the media right now about using i-clouds to store your data, here’s one place where you can be sure you’ll be safe to look up some listening. EC Bond shares with us a great collaborative place for those folks who use SoundCloud to put up their finished audio drama works. The Modern Audio Drama stream is a super place to find your favourites and new ones too! Come walk the clouds!

| Guest host Pete Lutz from Narada Radio Company joins Jack as they discover the Pub Hamlet from Lorna Meehan and Radio Widfire, and the Once and Future Nerd from Christian Madera and Zach Glass. |
So after some speculation it’s finally come to pass! YOUR Sonic Society is listed in the new i-tunes Modern Radio Drama page as an influencer of Audio Drama. You’ll recognize a pile of other grand folks in the genre as well. Hooray!
Congratulations to all of YOU out there. Without our Society Members- the listeners, we never would have made it. Ten years later but we finally have our own page on itunes. Wonderful! Go see for yourself at the itunes link.
