2. Introduction with Jack from the Abarnment

Hello and welcome True Believers!

It’s Jack Ward absent once again a Shannon Hilchie from the Abarnment in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. We’re still having a little trouble getting the Society studio up and running. There’s a lot of work still to be done in the space, but things should be ready for Sonic Summerstock Theatre coming in two weeks. Tonight’s episode is another double feature beginning with Part 1 of Remote Control by David George and starring David and his brother Brian George who you’ve probably seen in such shows as Seinfeld, Star Trek- DS9, Big Bang Theory and many others. Please check the show notes for links at Amazon or Audible to buy your own copy of Remote Control and support these fantastic talents. This play brings up so many questions about modern sensibilities and asks What is our true nature anyways?”

So without further ado, let’s listen to part 1 of Remote Control- Right here, in the Sonic Society….

The American Society For Science Fiction Audio
(ASFSFA)

The Mark Time Award is given each year to honor the Best Science Fiction Audio Production on the Planet. And the Ogle Award for Best Fantasy Audio Production of the Year.

Charles Ogle played the first Frankenstein’s creation in Edison’s silent 1910 film of the famous science fiction horror novel. Fantasy includes magical “high” fantasy, sword and sorcery, horror, modern urban fantasy, and other things that don’t fall under the criteria of Science Fiction. But, we’ll be the judges of that.

A Gold and a Silver Mark Time Award, and a Gold and a Silver Ogle Award, will be awarded at CONvergence,, June 30-July 3 of 2011.

Hello and welcome to the Abarnment! New home of the Sonic Society- the world’s showcase of modern audio drama, I’m Jack Ward and Shannon Hilchie is buried up to her eyeballs in unpacking boxes right now.

For me, I’ve gotten the studio unpacked and set it up. Currently we’re waiting for the Internet Providers and one of us to have cross-secting schedules. We’ve made new friends. One is a neighbouring black cat by the name of Gentleman Tom, another calico neighbouring cat who hasn’t stopped by enough to tell us her name.

So, while we continue packing, let’s have a listen to a couple of great shows including a serialized audio drama series called “Blue Skies” from Mad Geek Productions and featuring a One Act Players show written by Mike Murphy and Produced and Directed by Seth Adam Sher. So without further ado, let’s get started with “The Day Hondo Found That Rare Bottle of Wine At Sullivan’s Tap and Eating Establishment”, right here on the Sonic Society….

New Digs!

Welcome to Wolfville, Nova Scotia. A lovely town in the valley of the province, with Acadia, University, a grand tradition of artists, a surprising lack of lycanthropes and US- the new digs of the Sonic Society.

Shannon and I are now moved into the Abarnment, and will be spending at least a week or more settling in- JUST in time for the Summer season.

Wolfville has a lot to offer, and is a sleepy little town in the summer. Come wander by, some time.

So if you have the previous address to send things through the post to us.. please email us at info AT sonicsociety DOT org to get the new address!

Broken Sea High on the Waves!

Our good friends at Broken Sea have done it again!

This time they are the proud owners of the Sir Julius Vogel award in New Zealand where the company is based!

Broken Sea’s win was under Fan Production for The Doctor Who Podcast with Mark Kalita as the ever present Doctor.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mark, Paul Mannering, Stevie Farnaby, Robin Carlisle, Bill Hollweg and all the folks at Broken Sea!
